The 'Leading Lady' series was bred to flower earlier, be floriferous blooming all summer, be cold and heat tolerant and mildew resistant. The series is characterized as "strong Coreopsis breeding, with first year flowering on hardy plants". Tickseed 'Leading Lady Sophia' is named after Sophia Loren, and is one of three in the series, featururing masses of large, yellow flowers with tubular petals on compact mounding plants. Introduced by Darryl Probst, the breeder of the Big Bang series.
